Trained Graduate Teachers Urge Authorities to Allow Flexible and Multiple Transfer Options

Bhubaneswar, April 24: TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) teachers working in secondary schools have demanded simplification of the inter-district transfer process in Odisha.
Currently, as per the notification issued by the School and Mass Education Department Odisha on May 14, teachers are allowed to apply for mutual (consent-based) inter-district transfer only once during their entire service period.
Key Concerns Raised:
Due to the “one-time only” rule, teachers are unable to transfer according to changing personal or family circumstances.
Many teachers are facing mental stress and dissatisfaction because of limited flexibility.
Subjects like PCM, CBZ, and Arts TGT teachers are expected to be significantly affected.
Teachers argue that:
Mutual transfers (between two consenting teachers) do not create teacher shortages or surplus in any district.
There is no negative impact on schools or districts if such transfers happen multiple times.
Demand:
Teachers have urged the government, including Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and the concerned department, to:
Amend the existing rule
Allow multiple opportunities for mutual inter-district transfers
They believe that such a change would serve the larger interest of teachers and improve their overall well-being without affecting the education system.
