Located around two kilometres from Mohana market, the post office is reportedly functioning from a rented building with limited space and basic amenities.

Network Failure Delays Digital Services

Unstable connectivity has emerged as one of the biggest challenges for the post office. Staff reportedly face frequent interruptions while processing digital transactions, receiving OTPs and carrying out other online services.

Local Postmaster Apana Behera said the network frequently drops, making it difficult for staff to complete routine operations.

Mobile phone connectivity in the area is also reportedly unreliable, adding to the difficulties faced by both employees and customers.

Customers Forced to Wait for Hours

The lack of reliable connectivity means customers travelling from distant areas often have to spend several hours at the post office to complete their work.

Residents said the problem is particularly inconvenient for people who depend on the facility for postal and Aadhaar-related services.

Customer Narayan Patra said the existing building has limited facilities and lacks adequate seating arrangements, forcing visitors to wait for extended periods.

He urged the postal authorities to provide a better facility equipped with basic amenities and stable network connectivity.

Limited Space Adds to Problems

Apart from connectivity issues, inadequate space has become another major concern.

According to the postmaster, the building does not have sufficient room for staff to work or for customers to wait comfortably. As a result, people are often compelled to stand outside, exposed to the sun and rain.

The situation becomes especially difficult when a large number of customers arrive for postal or Aadhaar-related services.

Residents Seek Early Intervention

Residents claimed that the problems have been brought to the attention of the Mohana block administration and concerned departmental officials on several occasions.

However, they alleged that no lasting solution has been implemented so far.

Locals have now urged the district administration and postal authorities to improve network connectivity, arrange a suitable building and provide essential facilities for customers and staff.

For residents of the surrounding areas, they said, a properly equipped post office is essential to ensure timely access to basic postal and digital government services.
