Engineers from Different Departments Participate in General Meeting of Odisha Diploma Engineers Service Association at Malkangiri

Malkangiri, May 16:  A general meeting of the Malkangiri branch of the Odisha Diploma Engineers Service Association was held at the district association hall.
The meeting was presided over by the President of the Malkangiri branch, Engineer Prashant Kumar Behera, while Regional President Engineer Krutibas Nayak conducted the proceedings. During the meeting, discussions were held on the importance of the association, as well as ways to strengthen and discipline the organization further.
The members also discussed bringing the association’s seven-point charter of demands to the attention of the government at the earliest. The seven demands include:
Reducing the promotion period from Junior Engineer to Assistant Engineer to one year.
Increasing the promotion quota for Diploma Engineers from Assistant Engineer to Assistant Executive Engineer from 40% to 50%.
Granting all service benefits to Junior Engineers appointed between 2003 and 2013 by considering their contractual service period from the date of joining.
Implementing a single cadre rule for all Diploma Engineers.
Providing four-tier SSP benefits to Diploma Engineers.
Reintroducing the old pension scheme.
Granting two additional increments to degree-holder Diploma Engineers.
President Prashant Behera stated during the meeting that block-level committees would be formed in all blocks by the 15th of this month. He further said that in the coming days, the association would draw the government’s attention towards the seven demands, and if necessary, a protest demonstration would be held in front of the Legislative Assembly if the demands were not fulfilled. He also appealed for everyone’s cooperation in achieving these demands.
Among those present at the meeting were Secretary Engineer Sudeepta Sahu, President Engineer Chaitanya Sagar, Engineer Pitha Soren, and many Diploma Engineers from various departments of the district, including Rural Development, Works Department, Panchayati Raj, Water Supply, Irrigation, and ITDA.
At the end of the meeting, Association Advisor Engineer Karshik Nayak delivered the vote of thanks and concluded the session.
