Hundreds of married women visited the Srimandir from early morning to observe the traditional Sabitri Brata, praying for the long life, prosperity and well-being of their husbands. Carrying fruits, conch bangles, vermillion and other puja materials, devotees performed rituals in a deeply spiritual atmosphere within and around the temple premises.

The sacred occasion also witnessed the observance of the traditional ‘Jala Krida’ ritual as part of the ongoing Bhitara Chandan Yatra inside the Srimandir. The ritual was held at the Jala Krida Mandap located within the inner enclosure of the temple.

As per temple traditions, after completion of important rituals including Diba Alata Lagi, Chandan Lagi and Dakhini Ghara Bhoga, the Chalanti Pratima of Lord Madanmohan and Goddess Sridevi were ceremonially taken to the Jala Krida Mandap following the receipt of the sacred Agyanmala from the Ratna Singhasan.

During the ritual, servitors gently placed the idols into the water tank amid chanting of hymns and religious ceremonies, while fragrant sandalwood water was sprinkled as part of the sacred observance. Rituals such as Sitala Bhoga, Srianga Pocha and Mailama were also performed before the deities were adorned with floral decorations and traditional Besha.

After completion of the ceremonies, Goddess Sridevi returned to the Ratna Singhasan for further rituals, while Lord Madanmohan proceeded towards the Dakhini Ghara in accordance with temple customs.

The temple administration made elaborate arrangements to manage the heavy influx of devotees as the holy town of Puri witnessed a festive and devotional atmosphere throughout the day.
