Bhubaneswar, May 23: The Secretary of Food Supplies, Sanjay Singh, has issued a strict warning regarding the ration system and the eKYC process in the state. He strongly instructed district supply officers that preventive measures must be taken in advance to avoid any artificial shortage of essential commodities. He advised officials to work in a “pro-active” manner instead of being “reactive.”
He also warned that strict action, including suspension and dismissal, would be taken if conduct rules are violated.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the rice delivery system, he pointed out that despite 6.3 million metric tonnes of rice being produced in 2024–25, about 50,000 metric tonnes of rice have still not been delivered.
He further stated that out of 33 million ration beneficiaries in the state, 97% eKYC and 96% Aadhaar verification have been completed so far. He directed departmental officials to complete 100% eKYC at the earliest.
