District Supply Officers Asked to Ensure Complete eKYC Coverage and Prevent Artificial Shortage of Essential Commodities

Bhubaneswar,June 1:  The Supply Secretary has issued a strict directive to District Supply Officers to ensure 100% completion of eKYC. Officials were instructed to take preventive measures before any artificial shortage of essential commodities occurs.

The Secretary emphasized that officers should work proactively instead of reacting after problems arise. He warned that violation of conduct rules would lead to suspension and dismissal from service. “Take this as a warning,” said Supply Secretary Sanjay Singh.

The Secretary also expressed dissatisfaction over rice delivery management. During 2024–25, around 63 lakh metric tonnes of rice were produced, but nearly 50 thousand metric tonnes of rice are yet to be delivered.

Departmental officers have been given targets to achieve 100% eKYC completion. The state has around 3 crore 30 lakh ration beneficiaries. So far, 97% eKYC has been completed, while Aadhaar verification has reached 96%.
