Koraput.June 2: While the district residents have welcomed this announcement by the state government, there is hope that it will boost tourism development and create new employment opportunities for local youth.
Surrounded by natural beauty, the Kolab Reservoir in Koraput — with its hills, forests, and vast expanse of water — has long been a major attraction for tourists. In the first phase, EV boat services will be launched in the reservoir. According to reports, the service is planned to begin from Pandi Ghat.
Once the EV boat operations start, tourists will be able to enjoy the scenic beauty of the reservoir from a much closer perspective. While the decision has been widely appreciated by the public, demands have also been raised for the welfare of local boat operators. Residents have urged the authorities to provide training in EV boat operation to the local youths who have been earning their livelihood by operating boats in the area for many years, and to include them in this new initiative.
