Umarkote, June 4: A free summer weightlifting training camp has been launched at the Multi-Purpose Indoor Stadium in Umarkote by the Sports and Youth Services Department of the Odisha Government. The camp has been organized with the objective of creating interest in weightlifting among young athletes and helping them develop and showcase their talent.
The camp is being conducted under the supervision of stadium in-charge Ashok Kumar Sahu and under the guidance of M. Vijay Kumar, Managing Director of the Multi-Purpose Sports Academy. Coach Nakul Santa is providing training to the participating athletes.
The training camp, which started on May 28, will continue until June 12.
During the inauguration ceremony, Additional Government Advocate Ramakrishna Nayak and District Sports Association Women’s Sports Coordinator Eng. Chandana Mallik attended the event and encouraged the athletes.
At the end of the camp, all participating athletes will receive special certificates approved by the Government of Odisha from the Sports and Youth Services Department. It is believed that these certificates will help the young athletes progress further in the field of sports in the future.
The camp has created a valuable opportunity for young talents in the Umarkote region, and there has been considerable enthusiasm among local parents and sports lovers regarding the initiative.
