Bhubaneswar, June 6: Odisha is experiencing intense heat and humid conditions as temperatures rose sharply across several parts of the state, according to data recorded by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) by 11:30 AM today.

Among major cities, Bhubaneswar recorded the highest temperature at 38°C. Other parts of the state also reported elevated readings, including Sambalpur at 36.6°C, Jharsuguda at 36°C, Hirakud at 35.6°C, and Puri at 35.4°C.
The IMD has issued an advisory urging residents to take precautionary measures to prevent heat-related illnesses amid the rising temperatures and humid weather conditions.
As part of its guidance, the IMD has advised people to maintain adequate hydration by drinking water frequently, wear light-coloured and loose-fitting clothing, and use protective accessories such as hats, umbrellas, sunglasses, and sunscreen while stepping outdoors. Citizens have also been advised to avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours.
Authorities have recommended minimizing exposure to direct sunlight during the hottest part of the day and taking necessary precautions, especially for children, elderly individuals, and those engaged in outdoor work.
The IMD continues to monitor weather conditions closely and is expected to issue further updates if the heat intensity persists or escalates in the coming days.
