Bhubaneswar, June 8: Major announcement regarding the Ayushman Bharat scheme: The state government has issued a new advisory directing all empanelled hospitals not to charge patients receiving benefits under the scheme for any pre- or post-medical expenses.
The Health Minister visited hospitals and reviewed the implementation of the scheme. According to the new guidelines, the cost of tests conducted up to three days before hospital admission will also be covered through the card. Similarly, for up to 15 days after discharge, doctor consultations, necessary medicines, diagnostic tests, and post-operative care will be provided free of cost.
The government has clarified that the expenses for all these services will be included within the package cost. No additional money can be collected from patients. Hospitals have also been made responsible for providing free follow-up visits, tests, and medicines after discharge.
If any complications arise after surgery or if the patient needs to be readmitted, those expenses will also be included in the package cost. The government has warned that strict action will be taken against hospitals that violate the rules and illegally collect money from patients.
