Bhubaneswar, June 8: Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari has stated that all registration offices (Sub-Registrar Offices) in the state will be made free from brokers and middlemen. For this purpose, adequate CCTV cameras and smart surveillance systems will be installed in all offices.
A high-level meeting regarding the IGR (Inspector General of Registration) monitoring system was held today at Lok Seva Bhavan. After the meeting, Minister Pujari said that corruption in registration offices is often encouraged by middlemen who frequently visit the offices without any valid reason, apart from the officials and employees.
To curb this, a smart surveillance system using CCTV cameras has been introduced. Through this system, middlemen and brokers will be identified. The surveillance mechanism will be further strengthened and made more effective with the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and identified brokers will face punitive action. The land purchase, sale, and registration system will be kept completely free from the influence of intermediaries.
In the coming days, the infrastructure of all registration offices will be strengthened further. Registration officers may also be granted additional powers as Executive Magistrates wherever necessary to make them more efficient.
Similarly, smart surveillance systems will also be introduced in all Revenue Department offices, Tahasil offices, and Revenue Inspector (RI) offices across the state. Additionally, when Tahasildars, Additional Tahasildars, and RIs go for field inspections, their movements will be tracked. This monitoring system will be supervised by the Minister and the Department Secretary.
The smart surveillance system will also maintain strict monitoring over the attendance and absence of departmental officials and employees.
