Cuttack, June 8 (UDN): An ambulance transporting a child patient caught fire late Sunday night near Khannagar Chhak in Cuttack district. No injuries were reported as the patient and all accompanying individuals were safely evacuated in time.
The incident took place around 1:00 am while the ambulance was en route to Shishu Bhawan from the Badachana area of Jajpur district. The vehicle was passing through Khannagar Chhak towards Purighat when it suddenly caught fire.
Family members accompanying the child, along with ambulance staff, responded quickly and ensured the patient was moved out of the vehicle before the flames spread, preventing any harm to those on board.
Fire services personnel rushed to the spot after being alerted and successfully brought the blaze under control. However, the ambulance was completely gutted in the incident.
Officials stated that the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. An investigation is expected to ascertain the reason behind the incident.
Authorities have praised the quick response of the occupants, which helped avert a potential tragedy.
