Bhubaneswar, June 9 (UDN): The Odisha Cabinet has approved 10 important proposals across five departments, marking a significant push toward infrastructure development, urban transformation, and inclusive growth in the state.

Among the major approvals is a large-scale working women’s hostel project at the Kalibeti Industrial Estate in Khordha district. Estimated at ₹210 crore, the facility is designed to provide safe and modern accommodation for around 4,000 women working in the industrial sector. The hostel is expected to improve workforce participation by offering secure housing and essential amenities, with completion targeted within two years.

The initiative is seen as a major step toward strengthening women’s participation in Odisha’s industrial workforce by addressing key challenges related to safety, accessibility, and living conditions.
In another major decision, the Cabinet cleared a ₹500 crore Waterfront Development Project aimed at revitalising urban riverfronts and water bodies across the state. The project focuses on improving ecological sustainability, enhancing urban aesthetics, and promoting environmentally responsible development in growing cities.
Officials said the initiative will help restore natural water ecosystems while also creating public spaces that improve quality of life and support urban tourism and recreation.
The Cabinet meeting also approved several other proposals covering infrastructure expansion, welfare schemes, and departmental reforms, reflecting the state government’s continued focus on balanced and inclusive development.
Government officials noted that these decisions align with Odisha’s broader vision of accelerating industrial growth while ensuring social welfare and sustainable urban planning.
The approved projects are expected to generate employment opportunities, improve urban infrastructure, and strengthen support systems for workers and citizens across the state.
