Odisha Launches ‘Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana’ to Strengthen Food Security for the Poor

 

Kendrapara (UDN): Marking the successful completion of two years of governance focused on service, good governance, and commitment, the Odisha Government has launched the Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana, a major welfare initiative aimed at further strengthening food security for economically vulnerable sections of society.

The scheme was inaugurated in Kendrapara by Suryabanshi Suraj, Odisha’s Minister for Higher Education, Sports & Youth Services, Odia Language, Literature & Culture, in the presence of Mahakalapada MLA Durga Prasanna Nayak. The programme was held at Sanskriti Bhavan and attended by local officials, public representatives, and beneficiaries.

Under the Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana, beneficiaries covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and the State Food Security Scheme (SFSS) will receive an additional 5 kilograms of rice. The initiative is expected to benefit more than 3.28 crore people across Odisha.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the scheme has been launched with the objective of further strengthening food security and supporting the welfare of economically weaker sections. The additional allocation of rice is expected to provide relief to millions of families and enhance nutritional security across the state.

The launch of the scheme is being viewed as a significant step towards inclusive development and poverty alleviation. The state government reiterated its commitment to building a developed Odisha and ensuring that the benefits of welfare programmes reach every eligible beneficiary.

With the rollout of the Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana, Odisha has further expanded its social welfare framework, reinforcing its focus on food security and the well-being of millions of citizens across the state.
