Sundargarh, June 16 (UDN): Two drivers lost their lives in a tragic road accident after a truck burst into flames following a head-on collision with a Hyva vehicle on the Sundargarh–Sambalpur State Highway near Kaisara on Tuesday.
According to initial reports, the accident occurred when the two heavy vehicles collided head-on, resulting in a powerful impact that triggered a massive fire. The truck was quickly engulfed in flames, trapping the drivers inside before they could escape.
Eyewitnesses said thick smoke and towering flames could be seen from a considerable distance, creating panic among local residents and commuters. Villagers rushed to the spot and alerted emergency services as the fire continued to spread.
Firefighters and police personnel promptly reached the accident site and launched rescue and firefighting operations. After bringing the blaze under control, rescue teams recovered the charred bodies of the two drivers from the wreckage.
The identities of the deceased had not been confirmed till the filing of this report. The accident also disrupted traffic movement on the busy highway for several hours as authorities cleared the damaged vehicles and restored normal traffic flow.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision. Further details are awaited.
