Bhubaneswar, June 17: Renowned sand artist and Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik was felicitated by the Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, Hari Babu Kambhampati, at Lok Bhavan on Tuesday, in recognition of his outstanding international achievement.

Pattnaik was honoured for winning the prestigious Russian Grand Sand Master Cup 2026 at the II International Festival of Sand Sculpture held in Kaliningrad. With this accomplishment, he became the first Indian sand artist to receive this distinguished global title.
The Hon’ble Governor appreciated Pattnaik’s exceptional artistic contribution and lauded his thought-provoking sand sculpture on climate change, which earned international recognition and brought further prestige to India.
Expressing his gratitude, Pattnaik stated that he was deeply honoured by the felicitation and thanked the Governor for the encouragement and recognition.
Widely acclaimed for his creative and socially relevant sand art displayed at Puri beach, Sudarsan Pattnaik continues to elevate Indian art on the global stage, bringing pride to Odisha and the nation.
