According to IMD observations recorded at 8:30 am, Bhubaneswar, Chandbali, Puri, and Paradip reported complete cloud cover with 8 oktas, indicating fully overcast conditions. Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, and Rourkela recorded 7 oktas, while Hirakud and Balasore observed 6 oktas. Gopalpur reported relatively lighter cloud cover at 5 oktas.

Coastal and northern regions of the state remained under thick cloud cover, while southern coastal areas experienced comparatively moderate cloudiness. The prevailing weather conditions suggest the likelihood of overcast skies persisting through the day, with chances of light rain or thundershowers at several locations across Odisha.

Meteorologists explained that cloud cover is measured in oktas, a standard unit where the sky is divided into eight equal parts. A reading of 8 oktas indicates a completely overcast sky, while lower values represent progressively clearer conditions.

The IMD has indicated that such widespread cloudiness may continue to influence weather patterns over the region in the short term.
