Raighar ,June 20: {UDN}:: A special meeting was organized in the tribal village of Dumurimunda under Raighar Block of Nabarangpur district with the participation of people from six Gram Panchayats of Zone No. 3. The meeting was convened with the objective of safeguarding religious beliefs, social values, and cultural traditions.
Intellectuals, villagers, and prominent members of society from various Panchayats attended the gathering and shared their views on issues concerning the community. During the discussions, speakers emphasized that the tribal community has, for generations, preserved and practiced its traditional faith by worshipping its indigenous deities and spiritual traditions. However, concerns were raised that certain individuals were allegedly attempting to encourage religious conversion by offering various inducements and temptations.
Participants expressed that such activities could create social unrest and disturb communal harmony. As a result, extensive discussions were held on ways to create awareness and take preventive measures against such practices. The meeting also focused on the importance of health awareness among the tribal population.
Speakers urged people not to rely on superstition, misconceptions, or misleading advice when faced with illness. Instead, they encouraged community members to seek treatment and guidance from government healthcare centers and qualified medical professionals.
The gathering further highlighted the need for women’s empowerment through higher education, economic self-reliance, financial savings, and skill development. Discussions were also held on protecting people from fraudulent promises related to employment and other deceptive schemes that often target vulnerable sections of society.
During the meeting, participants resolved that if any individual in the future attempts to carry out religious conversions through illegal means or by offering inducements, the matter would be brought to the attention of the administration, and the District Collector would be informed so that appropriate action could be taken in accordance with the law.
In their concluding remarks, the speakers appealed to all members of society to unite for the preservation of Indian culture, traditional values, and their religious heritage. They stressed the importance of collective efforts to protect cultural identity while promoting social harmony and community welfare.
At the end of the meeting, all attendees pledged to work together for the advancement of society, improvement of education, and enhancement of public awareness, with the shared goal of building a stronger and more informed community.
