Balasore, June 22 {UDN}:World Blood Donor Day was observed today by the District Blood Centre.A meeting was held in the conference hall of the District Headquarters Hospital under the chairmanship of Blood Centre Officer Dr. Basanta Kumar Upadhyay. Shobhana Mohanty, Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission, attended the event as the chief guest.
Among the distinguished guests were Girija Shankar Dash, In-charge CDMO; Kamal Kumar Chakraborty, President of the District Blood Donors’ Association; Er. Hrushikesh Sahu, Secretary of the Association; Dr. Saroj Raj, District President of OMSA; and Dr. Manoj Sahu, DTO. The speakers highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation and its role in saving lives.
On the occasion, several individuals were felicitated as outstanding blood donors, including Dr. Saroj Raj, Sagar Pattnaik, Narendra Samal, Jyotiranjan Puhan, Debajyoti Das Mahapatra, Kabindra Panda, Manoj Kumar Patra, Niranjan Mohanty, Uddheswar Patra, and Er. Hrushikesh Sahu.
All staff members of the District Blood Centre extended their cooperation in organizing and conducting the programme. Dr. Sanjeeb Pradhan delivered the vote of thanks.
