Solar Dust Collectors Deployed to Tackle Pollution in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, June 23: In a step towards cleaner and more sustainable urban living, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has installed solar-powered dust collectors in key parts of the city to tackle rising air pollution levels.

As part of the first phase, 20 dust collector units have been deployed in the Lingaraj Temple and Patia areas, which are known for heavy traffic movement, commercial activity, and workshop operations that contribute to high dust levels.

The solar-powered machines are designed to absorb dust-laden air, filter out harmful particulate matter, and release cleaner air back into the surroundings. By using renewable solar energy, the system also ensures low operational costs and reduced dependence on conventional power sources.

Officials said the initiative is aimed at improving air quality in pollution-prone zones and promoting eco-friendly technology solutions for urban environmental management.

The project reflects the city’s broader efforts to adopt sustainable practices and address growing concerns related to air pollution through innovative and energy-efficient interventions.

With this deployment, Bhubaneswar is taking a step forward in combining clean energy with environmental protection to create healthier urban spaces for its residents.
