Bhubaneswar,June 25 {UDN}: In a major step aimed at reducing traffic congestion in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, the Odisha government has constituted a special committee under the chairmanship of the Development Commissioner.
The committee has been tasked with identifying solutions to traffic-related issues by ensuring effective coordination among various government departments and agencies. Key members of the committee include the Chief Construction Engineer of the Works Department, the Additional Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), engineers from the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic), and the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic).
The committee will identify major traffic congestion hotspots across the twin cities and examine short-term measures to ease traffic flow. It will review and approve immediate interventions required to address bottlenecks and improve overall traffic management.
Special emphasis will be placed on ensuring smoother movement of both vehicles and pedestrians. The committee will also recommend necessary modifications to existing road layouts wherever required to enhance traffic circulation and reduce congestion.
Furthermore, the panel will focus on making traffic management systems more efficient and effective, with the objective of improving urban mobility and ensuring safer, faster, and more convenient transportation for residents of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
