Koraput, June 25 {UDN}: A comprehensive review meeting of the District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) and the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) was held today under the chairmanship of the District Collector of Koraput. The meeting focused on evaluating the progress of various urban development initiatives, sanitation projects, cleanliness campaigns, and public welfare programmes being implemented across the urban local bodies of the district.
During the meeting, the District Collector reviewed the status of ongoing development works and assessed the performance of different urban local bodies in achieving the objectives set under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban). Detailed discussions were held regarding solid waste management, door-to-door waste collection, waste segregation at source, maintenance of public sanitation facilities, cleanliness drives, and measures to improve overall urban hygiene standards.
Officials also presented reports on the implementation of various schemes aimed at improving urban infrastructure, enhancing civic amenities, and ensuring better living conditions for residents. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening sanitation services, promoting public awareness regarding cleanliness, and encouraging community participation in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
The Collector stressed the importance of effective coordination among departments and urged officials to ensure the timely completion of all ongoing projects. Directions were issued to address existing challenges, improve service delivery, and achieve the targets set under both urban development programmes and the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The meeting further reviewed the utilization of funds, progress of infrastructure projects, sanitation coverage, waste management systems, and initiatives related to sustainable urban development. Officials were instructed to closely monitor project implementation and take necessary steps to ensure transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the execution of government schemes.
The District Collector emphasized that cleanliness, sanitation, and urban development are essential for improving the quality of life of citizens and achieving sustainable growth in urban areas. He called upon all stakeholders, including government departments, municipal authorities, and the public, to work collectively towards building cleaner, greener, and more livable towns and cities across Koraput district.
The review meeting concluded with a commitment from all concerned departments to intensify efforts for achieving the goals of urban development and maintaining the standards envisioned under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), thereby contributing to the overall progress and well-being of the district.
