CBSE Defers Implementation of the New Language Policy for Class 10 This Academic Year; Existing Language Scheme to Continue Without Changes

Bhubaneswar, June 30 {UDN}:  In a significant relief for students, parents, and schools, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided not to implement the proposed language policy for Class 10 students during the current academic year. The board has clarified that the new language-related provisions will not be applicable to students appearing for the Class 10 examinations this year.

This decision ensures that students preparing for their board examinations will continue under the existing language curriculum and examination pattern, without any sudden changes. The move is expected to reduce confusion and academic pressure, allowing students to focus on their studies without worrying about adjustments to a new language policy.

CBSE’s announcement comes as a major relief for schools, teachers, and parents, who had expressed concerns about implementing a revised language framework in the middle of an academic session. The board has indicated that any future implementation of the language policy will be announced separately after adequate planning, consultation, and preparation.

Students currently studying in Class 10 can therefore continue their preparations according to the present syllabus and examination guidelines, as no changes related to the new language policy will affect them during this academic year. The decision is aimed at ensuring a smooth academic process while providing sufficient time for stakeholders to adapt to any future policy changes.
