Jharsuguda, June 30 {UDN}: A Panchayat Samiti-level “Self-Reliant Youth, Prosperous Odisha Convention” was held on Monday at the MCL Auditorium in Jharsuguda, bringing together government officials, youth, beneficiaries, and members of the public to promote employment, skill development, and entrepreneurship.
Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy, who attended as the chief guest, inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp. In his address, he urged young people to become self-reliant through skill development, employment opportunities, and entrepreneurship, stating that empowered youth are the foundation of a prosperous Odisha.
The MLA highlighted the state’s progress in healthcare, education, agriculture, women’s empowerment, rural infrastructure, and social security, saying these initiatives have accelerated Odisha’s development. He also noted that the state’s development journey aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Viksit Bharat” and contributes to building a “Viksit Odisha.”
Emphasizing environmental conservation, Tripathy appealed to every citizen to plant at least five trees and actively participate in maintaining cleanliness rather than relying solely on municipal authorities. A documentary showcasing Jharsuguda district’s developmental achievements over the past two years was also screened during the event.
Several beneficiaries received assistance under various government welfare schemes. Financial support, ration cards, Ayushman cards, labour cards, certificates, and benefits under MSME Interest Subvention, PM-FME, PMEGP, Nano Unicorn, Annapurna, State Plan Input Subsidy, Ayushman Vay Vandana, Antyodaya Housing Scheme, and Lakhpati Didi were distributed.
A special attraction of the programme was Khilesh Behera, a specially-abled child from Katapali village, whose devotional singing and remarkable mridanga performance captivated the audience. Impressed by his extraordinary talent, the MLA felicitated him and wished him a bright future.
The event also featured exhibition stalls set up by various government departments. A large number of officials, intellectuals, students, youth, and media representatives attended the convention. Senior officials, including District Industries Centre General Manager Arindam Pradhan, BDO Anil Kumar Acharya, and District Skill Development & Employment Officer Sangeeta Meher, were present and addressed the gathering.
