Heritage Alert: Heavy Vehicles Threaten ASI-Protected Atharanala Bridge

Jajpur, June 30 (UDN): The centuries-old Atharanala Bridge in Odisha’s Jajpur district is facing growing concern as heavy vehicles continue to use the heritage structure despite the availability of an alternative road.

The bridge, which is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), is an important historical landmark. However, locals say that the continued movement of trucks and other heavy vehicles is putting pressure on the ageing structure.

Worry is rising that if the situation continues, the bridge could suffer further damage. Residents and heritage observers are now urging authorities to strictly divert heavy traffic and take urgent steps to protect the monument for future generations.
