Government Broadens Food Security Coverage Over the Past Two Years, Ensuring Greater Support for Eligible Households Across the State

Bhubaneswar,  July 1 {UDN}:  The People’s Government has placed the highest priority on ensuring food security for every family. Over the past two years, the eligibility criteria have been relaxed to bring a larger number of deserving households under the food security umbrella, ensuring that no eligible family is left behind.

To further strengthen food security for vulnerable and economically weaker families, the government is providing additional free rice assistance through the Chief Minister’s Annapurna Scheme. This initiative complements the existing food distribution system and offers greater support to families facing financial hardships.

More than 1.1 million new beneficiaries have been included in the food security programme, significantly expanding its reach. By extending the benefits to every eligible household, the People’s Government is committed to building a hunger-free and food-secure society. The government continues to work tirelessly to ensure that every deserving family receives adequate food assistance and enjoys the security of a reliable public welfare system.
