Historic Education Reform: Cabinet Clears ‘Gyanodaya – Shiksharu Samruddhi’ Scheme to Provide Free KG-to-PG Education, Allocating Rs 5,467 Crore for Five-Year Implementation

Bhubaneswar,July 2 {UDN}: In a landmark decision aimed at strengthening the education sector, the State Cabinet has approved the ‘Gyanodaya – Shiksharu Samruddhi’ scheme, paving the way for free education from Kindergarten (KG) to Postgraduate (PG) level beginning this year.

The ambitious initiative is designed to ensure that students from all sections of society have access to quality education without financial barriers. Under the scheme, eligible students will receive free education from the foundational stage through higher education, promoting equal opportunities and improving educational outcomes across the state.

The government has allocated ₹5,467 crore for the implementation of the scheme over the next five years. This substantial investment reflects the government’s commitment to expanding access to education, reducing dropout rates, supporting economically disadvantaged families, and building a skilled and educated workforce.

The ‘Gyanodaya – Shiksharu Samruddhi’ programme is expected to benefit lakhs of students by making education more inclusive, affordable, and accessible. The initiative is also expected to contribute significantly to the state’s long-term social and economic development by empowering young people through education.
