Health Department Launches June Pulse Polio Campaign at District Headquarters Hospital to Achieve Complete Immunization Coverage Among Children

Jharsuguda:July 2 {UDN}:  The June round of the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization Programme was formally launched at the District Headquarters Hospital in Jharsuguda.

During the programme, the guests inaugurated the campaign by administering the two drops of the oral polio vaccine to children below five years of age. On the occasion, parents and guardians across the district were urged to ensure that every child under the age of five is taken to the nearest Pulse Polio booth to receive the vaccine without fail.

The speakers emphasized that the Pulse Polio campaign is an important step towards building a polio-free society and sought the active cooperation of the public to make the initiative successful.

Under the programme, eligible children will be vaccinated through Pulse Polio booths, transit booths, and door-to-door vaccination drives across both urban and rural areas of the district. The Health Department stated that active public participation is essential for the complete eradication of polio.

The June 2026 Round of the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization Programme is being conducted from June 28 onwards, with the objective of administering the oral polio vaccine to all children below five years of age. As part of the campaign, extensive public awareness activities, including announcements through loudspeakers, are being carried out to encourage maximum participation and ensure that no eligible child is left out.
