Bhubaneswar, July 2 (UDN): Odisha is set to experience widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next four days as a low-pressure system intensifies monsoon activity across the state.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather system is expected to bring intense rainfall to several districts in northern, southern coastal, and western Odisha. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are also likely in some areas during this period.
The IMD has issued weather warnings for multiple districts and advised residents to remain cautious, especially those living in low-lying and flood-prone areas. District administrations have been asked to stay prepared to deal with any rain-related emergencies.
Authorities have urged people to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rainfall, while fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea until weather conditions improve.
The anticipated rainfall is expected to strengthen monsoon activity across the state, providing relief from the recent dry spell and benefiting the ongoing Kharif agricultural season. However, continuous rainfall may lead to waterlogging, localized flooding, and disruptions to normal life in vulnerable areas.
Citizens are advised to stay updated with official weather advisories and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety as the low-pressure system remains active over the coming days.
