Health Scare at Mayurbhanj KGBV: 20 Students Affected

Baripada, July 4 (UDN): Around 20 students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) at Chandua under Kuliana block in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district fell ill on Saturday in a suspected diarrhoea outbreak, prompting swift action from health authorities.

Four students, reported to be in a critical condition, were admitted to Kuliana Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment. The remaining affected students were given first aid at the school.

According to reports, the students developed symptoms such as loose motion, vomiting, and abdominal pain shortly after consuming food and drinking water on the school premises.

Following the incident, a medical team from Kuliana CHC visited the residential school, examined students and staff, and collected samples of drinking water and food for laboratory testing to determine the cause of the illness.

Health officials suspect contamination in either drinking water or food, though the exact cause will be confirmed after test results are received.
