Puri, July 13 (UDN): Preparations for the grand Rath Yatra 2026 are progressing with a strong focus on safety, as authorities introduce new measures to ensure a secure and smooth experience for devotees gathering in Puri.
The iconic chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra are being fitted with an upgraded braking system designed to improve safety and control during the annual chariot procession. The newly developed brakes feature a special waterproof coating to protect key components from moisture and ensure reliable performance even during adverse weather conditions.
The safety enhancement is expected to strengthen the operational efficiency of the massive chariots and provide better control during the movement of the procession, which attracts devotees from across the country.
Alongside chariot safety, preparations are also underway to safeguard visitors arriving in Puri for the festival. Lifeguards conducted mock rescue drills at the city’s sea beach to improve emergency preparedness and strengthen response capabilities during the peak festival period.
With a large number of devotees and tourists expected to participate in the celebrations, authorities are implementing comprehensive arrangements covering crowd management, emergency services, and public safety.
The initiatives highlight the administration’s commitment to maintaining the spiritual grandeur of Rath Yatra while ensuring a safe and memorable experience for all devotees.
