July 15 (UDN): A low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal near the north Odisha-West Bengal coast, bringing the possibility of widespread rainfall across Odisha in the coming days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The weather system has developed under the influence of an upper-air cyclonic circulation that persisted over the region. The IMD has forecast increased rainfall activity across several parts of Odisha over the next 48 hours due to the formation of the low-pressure area.
The system is expected to strengthen monsoon activity, with many districts likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall. Weather conditions may also include cloudy skies, strong winds in some areas, and occasional thunderstorms.
The IMD has advised people to remain alert and follow official weather updates, particularly in areas that may witness heavy rainfall. Local authorities have been asked to take necessary precautions to manage possible rain-related situations.
Residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel during intense rainfall, and stay updated on weather warnings.
The low-pressure system comes amid active monsoon conditions over the region, with Odisha expected to receive significant rainfall as the system moves and influences weather patterns over the next few days.
