July 15 (UDN): Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati has called upon probationary officers of the Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) to develop a thorough understanding of government welfare schemes and ensure their effective implementation at the grassroots level.
Interacting with 31 OAS probationers of the 2023 batch at Lok Bhavan, the Governor highlighted the important role of administrators in connecting government initiatives with people’s needs. He said that awareness of ground realities is essential for ensuring that welfare programmes reach genuine beneficiaries.
The Governor encouraged the young officers to study key Central and state welfare initiatives, including PM-SBY, PM-JAY, and PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, and actively support efforts to increase public participation in these schemes.
Emphasising the importance of responsible governance, Dr. Kambhampati said that committed and proactive officers can significantly improve the efficiency of public service delivery. He urged the probationers to work with dedication, sensitivity, and a strong sense of responsibility towards society.
During the interaction, the Governor also discussed global economic challenges and highlighted the impact of geopolitical uncertainties and India’s dependence on crude oil imports. He encouraged sustainable choices such as adopting electric vehicles, promoting renewable energy, and reducing unnecessary consumption.
Highlighting the importance of green initiatives, he spoke about rooftop solar adoption under the PM Surya Ghar scheme and the development of EV charging infrastructure. He also mentioned the efforts towards achieving Green Certification for Lok Seva Bhawan.
Recalling India’s response during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Governor said the country demonstrated resilience through innovation, self-reliance, and digital transformation. He encouraged citizens to adopt responsible consumption habits to support economic stability.
The interaction concluded with a focus on creating a future generation of administrators who are knowledgeable, people-oriented, and committed to inclusive development.
