July 15 (UDN): A four-year-old boy died after being bitten by a venomous snake at Kandeimunda Pahadatoli village under Kutra block of Sundargarh district, in a tragic incident that has left the family and villagers in deep sorrow.
The deceased child has been identified as Samarat Bilore, son of Keshab Bilore.
As per information from the family, the incident took place during the early hours of Monday when Samarat was sleeping with his parents. At around 3:30 am, a poisonous snake reportedly bit the child.
The family immediately took him to the Kutra Community Health Centre, where doctors provided emergency treatment. Later, considering his critical condition, he was shifted to the Sundargarh District Headquarters Hospital for further care.
However, despite medical efforts, the child died during treatment.
The incident has created grief among the residents of Kandeimunda Pahadatoli village. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter.
Authorities have also reiterated the importance of immediate medical attention following snakebite incidents and urged people to remain cautious, especially during the monsoon season when such cases often increase.
