Bhubaneswar, July 17 (UDN): Several isolated incidents were reported across Odisha during the Rath Yatra celebrations, including accidents and electrocution cases, resulting in injuries and two fatalities in Puri.
The incidents occurred amid large gatherings of devotees participating in the annual festival across different parts of the state. Authorities responded promptly and provided medical assistance to those affected, while local administrations continued to monitor safety arrangements at celebration venues.
In Puri, where one of the largest Rath Yatra gatherings takes place, officials remained engaged in crowd management and emergency response measures to ensure the safety of devotees. Additional precautions were maintained across major festival locations as large numbers of people participated in the celebrations.
Authorities have urged visitors and devotees to remain cautious, follow safety guidelines and cooperate with security personnel during large public gatherings.
The Odisha administration continues to review safety arrangements and strengthen preventive measures to minimise risks during ongoing festival activities and ensure the smooth conduct of remaining celebrations.
