Cuttack, July 21 (UDN): A newly constructed road in Bhiruda area under Tigiria block of Odisha’s Cuttack district has suffered extensive damage after heavy floodwaters washed away sections of the infrastructure, raising concerns among local residents and farmers over construction quality.
The road, built at an estimated cost of around ₹5 crore, was expected to improve connectivity in the region and provide better access for villagers and farmers. However, parts of the newly developed stretch were reportedly damaged soon after being exposed to flood conditions, leaving residents concerned about the durability of the work.
Local farmers and residents have alleged that poor-quality construction materials and inadequate workmanship may have contributed to the damage. They have urged authorities to conduct a detailed inspection and take appropriate action to ensure accountability.
The affected road is an important route for local communities, particularly farmers who depend on reliable connectivity for transportation of agricultural produce and daily activities.
