Bhubaneswar. July 27 (UDN): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a marine weather warning, advising fishermen not to venture into the sea along and off the Odisha coast till July 29 due to rough to very rough sea conditions.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, squally winds with speeds of 40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, are likely to prevail over the Odisha coast during the next three days, making sea conditions unsafe for fishing operations.
The IMD has urged fishermen already at sea to return to the shore at the earliest. Coastal residents and local authorities have also been advised to remain vigilant in view of the prevailing weather conditions.
The warning comes as a deep depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal–North Odisha coast continues to move northwards and is expected to cross the coast between Balasore and Canning near Haldia, influencing weather conditions across the region.
