Odisha’s Bhadrak Battles New Flood Spell After Heavy Rains

Bhadrak, July 28 (UDN): Continuous rainfall has triggered a fresh flood situation in Odisha’s Bhadrak district, affecting several low-lying areas as swollen rivers overflowed and inundated villages and agricultural land.

The water levels of the Kansa Bansa and Gamei rivers have risen significantly following heavy rains, leading to flooding in parts of Basudevpur block. At least 10 families have been reported stranded in affected areas as authorities continue to monitor the situation.

The latest flood spell has added to the challenges faced by residents who were still recovering from the impact of earlier flooding. Hundreds of hectares of farmland have been submerged, raising concerns over crop damage and livelihood losses for farmers.

Local residents in affected areas have faced difficulties in movement and access to essential services due to rising floodwaters. Authorities are assessing the situation and working to provide necessary support to vulnerable communities.

Relief teams and local administration officials are keeping a close watch on river levels and weather conditions, with further measures being taken based on the ground situation.

The recurring floods have once again highlighted the vulnerability of Odisha’s coastal districts during intense rainfall, where communities and agricultural activities are often affected by rising water levels.
