Bhubaneswar, July 29 (UDN): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday unveiled a book chronicling the life, philosophy and contributions of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, describing the revered seer as a symbol of service, spirituality and cultural consciousness.
Titled “Vedanta Keshari Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati: Kruti O Byaktitwa”, the book has been authored by Bipin Bihari Nanda and Banchanidhi Panda and published by the Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati Smrutinayas.
The book was formally released at a function in Bhubaneswar by RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale in the presence of Swami Paramhansa Pragyanananda, Swami Jivan Muktananda, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Mansukh Lal Sethia, and several saints, scholars, intellectuals and devotees.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Majhi said Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati dedicated his life to the upliftment of tribal communities, promotion of education, cow protection and preservation of India’s ancient cultural heritage.
Describing Hinduism as a way of life rooted in humanity, patriotism and spiritual values, the Chief Minister said Swamiji embodied these ideals through his lifelong commitment to serving society.
“Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati was not merely a spiritual leader but a guiding force for society, particularly for tribal and forest-dwelling communities. His life continues to inspire generations to work for social welfare, cultural preservation and national unity,” Majhi said.
Highlighting the State government’s efforts to honour the saint’s legacy, the Chief Minister said the Government Medical College and Hospital at Phulbani has been named after Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati. He added that the government has also undertaken measures to strengthen infrastructure and improve facilities at the Jaleshpata Ashram, closely associated with the spiritual leader.
Calling upon people to draw inspiration from Swamiji’s ideals, Majhi urged citizens, especially the youth, to embrace the values of service, sacrifice, discipline and patriotism in building a progressive and self-reliant Odisha.
The event brought together religious leaders, public representatives and admirers of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, who paid tribute to his enduring contributions to social reform, education and spiritual awakening in Odisha.
