Major Administrative Change in Kandhamal: New Superintending Engineer Appointed to Lead Minor Irrigation Department and Accelerate Development Projects

Phulbani, July 31 UDN}:: Er. Nihar Ranjan Behera assumed charge as the Superintending Engineer of the Minor Irrigation Department in Kandhamal district on Monday. Prior to this, he had been serving as the Superintending Engineer of the Malkangiri Division, where he earned appreciation for his dedication, sincerity, honesty, and professional efficiency.

During his tenure in Malkangiri district, Er. Behera played an important role in the construction and implementation of several irrigation projects aimed at promoting the social and economic development of farmers and the agricultural sector. His contributions were widely appreciated.

On Monday, he formally took charge from Er. Suprabha Kanhar, who had been serving as the Superintending Engineer in charge from the Bhanjanagar division.

Kandhamal, a predominantly tribal and economically backward district, has long faced challenges in the irrigation sector. After assuming office, Er. Behera said that he would give special attention to expanding irrigation facilities so that more agricultural land could receive adequate water supply during both the Rabi and Kharif seasons. He emphasized the need to ensure that irrigation benefits reach farmers across the district and contribute to the growth of agriculture and rural livelihoods.

Following his assumption of office, departmental engineers, assistant engineers, cashiers, section officers, senior clerks, computer programmers, office staff, and others welcomed him with bouquets and extended their best wishes for his new responsibility.
