Bhubaneswar, July 31(UDN): The Odisha government has constituted a high-level team of 30 senior officers to oversee the implementation of the PM SHRI Scheme across the state, aiming to further strengthen the quality of education in selected schools.
The School and Mass Education Department has designated the officers as State Reviewers, assigning each of them a district to conduct regular monitoring and evaluation of PM SHRI schools. The decision was formalised through a notification issued by the department on Wednesday.
The review panel comprises eight IAS officers, 13 Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officers, one Odisha Finance Service (OFS) officer, and eight officers from the Odisha Education Service (OES).
Among those appointed are key education administrators, including the Director of SCERT, State Project Director of OSEPA, Directors of Elementary, Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, the Chairman of CHSE, the President of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Additional Secretaries of the School and Mass Education Department, and other senior officials.
According to the department, the initiative is intended to ensure the effective implementation of the PM SHRI framework and transform the identified schools into centres of excellence in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
During their field visits, the State Reviewers will assess various aspects of school functioning, including classroom teaching, learning outcomes, infrastructure, governance, academic planning and overall implementation of the PM SHRI programme. They will also evaluate students’ learning levels using both qualitative and quantitative parameters, with a focus on the scheme’s 21 quality saturation indicators.
In addition to reviewing performance, the officers have been tasked with documenting innovative practices, identifying successful interventions, and highlighting areas that require immediate attention. After every visit, they will upload detailed assessment reports on the PM SHRI portal to facilitate timely policy decisions and corrective action by the department.
To streamline the review mechanism, the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has been directed to create portal access for all State Reviewers, map the PM SHRI schools under their respective jurisdictions, and appoint a dedicated nodal officer to coordinate the monitoring process.
Officials said the initiative is expected to strengthen accountability, improve academic standards, and accelerate the transformation of PM SHRI schools into model institutions across Odisha.
