Odisha Flood Update: Salandi River Overflow Triggers Fresh Concerns in Bhadrak

Bhadrak, July 31 (UDN): The flood situation in Odisha’s Bhadrak district has become more challenging after the Salandi River witnessed a fresh rise in water levels, leading to an embankment breach and affecting connectivity in several areas.

A breach of around 35 feet has occurred near Rajmukundpur under Annapal panchayat, allowing floodwaters to spread into nearby low-lying areas. The breach has disrupted the road link between villages, making movement difficult for local residents.

The latest development has added to flood concerns in the district, where authorities are already monitoring the impact of heavy monsoon rainfall and rising river levels. Local administrations have intensified preparedness measures and are assessing affected areas.

Response teams are working to manage the situation, restore damaged connectivity, and provide support to communities facing difficulties due to the flooding. Officials are also focusing on strengthening vulnerable embankment sections to prevent further damage.

Residents in flood-prone areas have been advised to remain cautious and follow safety guidelines issued by authorities. Continuous monitoring of river levels and weather conditions is underway as Odisha continues to deal with monsoon-related flood challenges.
