Bhubaneswar, Aug 4 [UDN}: The overall flood situation across the state is steadily improving as water levels in the major rivers continue to recede. In a significant relief for residents of flood-affected areas, the volume of water being released from the Hirakud Dam has been gradually reduced after continuous monitoring of reservoir levels and downstream river conditions. Authorities have stated that the inflow into the reservoir has decreased considerably, allowing officials to cut back on water discharge in a controlled manner.
According to the latest assessment by the state administration and the Water Resources Department, there is currently no possibility of a major flood in the coming days. River levels are stabilizing, and the risk of severe flooding has diminished significantly. Although local authorities remain vigilant and continue to monitor the situation around the clock, the overall outlook is reassuring.
Relief and restoration work is progressing in the affected districts, with government agencies focusing on providing assistance, repairing damaged infrastructure, and helping displaced families return to normal life. Officials have assured the public that all necessary precautionary measures remain in place, but the immediate danger of a large-scale flood has now passed.
