Sonepur, Aug 4 (UDN): A 10-foot-long python was safely rescued from the premises of Sriram Mahavidyalaya at Rampur in Odisha’s Sonepur district after it was found hiding beneath a staircase of the college building.
The reptile was spotted by college staff and students, following which the Forest Department was alerted. A team of forest officials reached the campus and carried out a careful rescue operation to remove the python safely.
The rescued snake was secured by the Forest Department team and appropriate measures were taken for its safe relocation to a suitable natural habitat.
Officials appreciated the timely reporting of the incident, which helped ensure the safe handling of the reptile while preventing any possible risk to students and staff.
The incident also highlights the importance of awareness and coordination between local communities and wildlife authorities in managing human-animal encounters, particularly in areas located near natural habitats.
