Bhubaneswar: Aug 6 [UDN}:The southwest monsoon has become active once again, bringing the likelihood of widespread rainfall across Odisha over the coming week. According to weather forecasts, several parts of the state are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall, while some districts may receive very heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.
The renewed monsoon activity is likely to significantly increase rainfall intensity in many regions, prompting the authorities to remain on alert for possible waterlogging, localized flooding, and disruptions to normal life. Residents, particularly those living in low-lying and flood-prone areas, have been advised to stay vigilant and follow weather advisories issued by the concerned departments.
Meteorologists have indicated that the active monsoon conditions are expected to persist for nearly a week, with rainfall likely to be distributed across coastal, central, western, and southern Odisha. The rainfall is expected to provide relief from humid weather but may also impact transportation, agriculture, and daily activities in several districts.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is closely monitoring the evolving weather system and may issue district-specific warnings if rainfall intensity increases further. People are advised to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain, exercise caution near rivers and waterlogged areas, and keep track of official weather updates.
Overall, Odisha is expected to witness an active monsoon spell over the next seven days, with widespread rain likely to continue across different parts of the state.
