President Droupadi Murmu Pays Tribute to Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das by Unveiling His Statue at Lajpat Bhawan in New Delhi

 New Delhi,, Aug 6 [UDN}:  The statue of Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das was unveiled today at Lajpat Bhawan in New Delhi by the Hon’ble President of India, Droupadi Murmu.
Pandit Gopabandhu Das was a great leader who represented the pride and identity of the Odia community, a prominent figure in Odisha’s freedom struggle, a friend of the poor, needy, and distressed, a renowned litterateur, an uncompromising journalist, a dedicated personality devoted to service and sacrifice, and one of the key architects of educational reforms.
Through the Satyabadi Bakul Bana Vidyalaya, he brought significant educational reforms in Odisha, giving special importance to women’s education and adult education in the then society. His contribution towards the formation of a separate Odisha state and his role in strengthening Indian consciousness will continue to inspire the Odia community to move forward.
The installation of his statue at the national level is a moment of great pride and self-respect for the entire state of Odisha.
The programme was attended by Hon’ble Union Minister Jual Oram, former Union Minister and Member of Parliament Dharmendra Pradhan, along with several Members of Parliament from Odisha and other distinguished personalities.
