Odisha Health Department Intensifies Flood Preparedness as Dr. Mukesh Mahaling Leads High-Level Review of Hospital Readiness, Medicine Supply, and Public Health Measures

Bhubaneswar, Aug 6 [UDN}:A high-level review meeting was conducted under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling to assess healthcare preparedness, disease surveillance measures, and the progress of district-level health programmes in view of the ongoing flood situation in Odisha.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on ensuring timely medical assistance in flood-affected areas, strengthening health monitoring systems, and improving emergency response mechanisms. The authorities reviewed the availability of essential healthcare services and the preparedness of health departments at the district level to tackle any possible outbreak of water-borne and vector-borne diseases.
Special emphasis was laid on enhancing medical support in affected regions, ensuring the supply of safe and clean drinking water, and intensifying public awareness campaigns to prevent health risks after the floods. Officials were directed to remain vigilant and take proactive steps to provide uninterrupted healthcare facilities to people in vulnerable areas.
The Health Minister stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among all departments to protect public health and ensure effective management of the flood-related health challenges.
