Bhubaneswar, Aug 10 [UDN}: Odisha’s Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari chaired a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan with senior officials of the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA). The meeting reviewed the management of the recent flood situation and focused on strengthening the state’s disaster management infrastructure through the adoption of advanced technologies.
The Minister emphasized the need to accelerate the construction of multi-purpose cyclone and flood shelters across vulnerable locations. He also directed officials to ensure the speedy implementation of measures aimed at improving disaster preparedness and response.
Following the recent floods, the assessment of damages has been expedited, with reports from affected regions continuously reaching the state government. As per the Minister’s directions, damage assessment has been carried out within 72 hours of floodwaters receding.
So far, the state government has released ₹110 crore as financial assistance to 22 affected districts. Major allocations include:
