28th November 2024: Odisha’s Chief Minister, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, recently addressed a special ceremony where new recruits to the state’s fire services were officially inducted. During the event, 826 firefighters and 115 fire engine drivers received their appointment letters, marking a significant boost to the state’s firefighting capabilities.

In his address, the Chief Minister highlighted that this recruitment drive has filled 22% of the vacancies in the Fire Services Department. Additionally, the Home Department plans to quickly fill nearly 10,000 more positions across various roles. The Chief Minister also shared his vision for the future, announcing that the recruitment for fireman positions will soon include women, ensuring greater gender representation in this critical sector.
This recruitment is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public safety services and provide essential support to its citizens. The inclusion of women in fire services is a progressive move, reinforcing Odisha’s commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunity in all fields.
