Utkal University Celebrates 82nd Foundation Day with a Focus on Innovation and Growth

Bhubaneswar, Nov 28: Utkal University marked its 82nd Foundation Day on Wednesday, with Vice-Chancellor Sabita Acharya recognizing the institution’s important role in shaping both the intellectual and cultural landscape of Odisha. In her speech, she reflected on the university’s dedication to advancing education, research, and skill development, while honoring the vision of its founding leaders, including Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati and Pandit Nilkantha Das.

Ravenshaw University’s Vice-Chancellor, Sanjay Kumar Nayak, also attended the ceremony and shared his pride in the university’s progress, especially in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. As an alumnus, Nayak expressed his admiration for Utkal University’s continuous growth and its contributions to higher education. He also expressed his support for future collaborations aimed at enhancing academic excellence and research.

Tej Pratap, Vice-Chancellor of Sri Sri University, spoke about the need to connect the aspirations of today’s students with the teachings of previous academic generations. He emphasized that this bridge between generations would be key to creating a more inclusive and forward-thinking educational system.

A highlight of the day was the recognition of Utkal University’s initiatives to foster entrepreneurship. Through its Utkal Entrepreneurship and Career Hub (UECH) and the Centre for Innovation and Incubation (CII), the university is currently supporting 22 student-led startups. Registrar Kanhu Charan Dhir also highlighted the university’s 22 active collaborations with national and international institutions, including a partnership with the prestigious Bhabha Atomic Research Centre.

Accredited with an A+ grade by NAAC, Utkal University ranks among the top 100 universities in India. The campus is equipped with modern learning facilities, including 86 ICT-enabled classrooms, 30 smart classrooms, and an advanced e-library, ensuring that students have access to a state-of-the-art educational experience. The day’s celebrations ended with the presentation of awards to students for their academic and extracurricular achievements, reinforcing the university’s commitment to fostering well-rounded development.
